Comparing two types of wound dressing after surgery for hip fracture

Hip Fracture

Hip

Around 70,000 people in the UK break their hip each year. Almost all patients need surgery to help them walk again, and up to 7% develop serious wound infections that can lead to longer hospital stays, more surgery, and even death. The type of dressing used after surgery could have an impact on infection rates.
This study was a randomised controlled trial comparing the use of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) with a standard dressing after surgery.
